Jennifer McCabe is a consultant and pianist for Opera on Tap Chicago, a non-profit organization bringing opera to the masses that was televised on WCIU and Chicago Tonight in the last year.
She is Music Director fro the Merit School of Music's Opera and Music Theater class which frequently works with Renee Fleming . As a Teaching Artist at Chicago High School for the Arts, she has the honor of teaching high school students piano ensemble literature, assisting with master classes with the likes of Ramsey Lewis and collaborating with other artists in making great music.
An active collaborative pianist, she has had the honor of performing with The Divas and distinguished singers who are affiliated with the Grant Park and CSO Choruses, Lyric Opera, faculty at Loyola and Roosevelt Universities, and Northwestern University graduates. She was the Musical Director for two Broadway Bound music camps at the Music Institute of Chicago in 2009-10 and is a staff pianist at the Chicago Waldorf School.
She has more than 25 years of solo and collaborative performance experience. She has also worked with the Actors Training Center in Wilmette, Lincoln Park High School and the Mayer Kaplan JCC Young Actor’s Ensemble. She holds her BA in Piano from Northern Illinois University and pursued graduate studies in Music Education and Performance at NIU and MTSU. Piano studies with Dr. William Koehler, Mr. Donald Walker and Ms. Charlene Harb. Composition studies with Mr. Mike O’Mara, voice studies with Ms. Diane Schoff and Marley Dzis.
She is on the piano faculty at the Morton Grove Park District and The Musical Offering in Evanston, IL where she is also the staff accompanist for vocal classes and the Coordinator of the Comprehensive Music program for ages 4-8. Additionally, she has enjoyed being an adjudicator for the CPS Citywide piano contest the last three years. |
